The Genesis of Our Passion

1978 - Where It Started

Gene Crawford, our founder, enters the audio business at retail.

1997 - Networking and Expansion

Gene joins an audio/video manufacturer’s representative firm covering Indiana and Kentucky.

1989 - Classic Stereo Opens

Gene returns to Louisville to open a retail audio store called Classic Stereo and begin custom home theater installation. Kathy, his wife, joins the company.

1991 - The Team Grows

He meets and begins to work with two young technicians who will become very important members of the team, Aaron Trotter and Steve Pulliam. They are still part of the Crawford team today!

1996 - Crawford Entertainment Systems Opens

Gene and Kathy start Crawford Entertainment Systems, Inc. to provide custom installed AV systems for the Louisville area. URC system remote controls make our clients systems easier to use.

1997 - The Move

The company moves into the current showroom/office/warehouse in east Louisville and begins to expand its work force and brand offerings.

2007 - Control4 Partnership

The company begins offering Control4 automation, which transforms our clients’ basic systems into full home automation. Data networks become an extremely important part of our client services.

2008 - Renovation for an Expanding Business

The company showroom/warehouse/office is greatly expanded within the existing building to allow for more expansion of the team and more on-hand inventory.

2024 - Crestron Home Partnership

Crestron Home automation is added to give our clients more choice and more flexibility in home automation. We can now make their systems even more functional and easier to operate.
